About Pat McMahon
Pat McMahon is a beloved on-air personality who brings his passion for rock music and deep love for Buffalo to the afternoons on 92.9 WBUF every weekday. Born and raised in Western New York, Pat has spent 17 years on the air across various markets on the 90, honing his skills as a multi-market morning host, producer, and engaging personality.
Pat’s career began in Rochester, where he was well-known as “Pat the Producer.” He then went on to become a top-rated morning host in Syracuse, and his talent led him to be syndicated nationwide as a rock radio talent. In 2021, Pat made his triumphant return to Buffalo, and in 2022, he began his current role on WBUF, calling it a “dream come true” to work in his hometown and in a format he loves so deeply.
On the air, Pat is known for his witty sense of humor and everyman style, which he brings to life through popular segments like:
- “What Grinds My Gears” – Pat shares his humorous takes on the everyday annoyances that we all encounter.
- “Shower Thoughts: 3 Things for You to Think About and Get Wrinkly Over” – A segment where Pat explores curious and thought-provoking ideas.
- “The Wagons and Swords Report: Everything Buffalo Sports” – A comprehensive look at Buffalo sports with Pat’s insightful commentary and updates.
Pat’s connection to the Buffalo community is deep and personal. He grew up in Marilla, NY, is an Iroquois graduate, and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Communications from SUNY Fredonia. He and his wife, Jessi, live in Kenmore with their two young children and a rescue dog. They are excitedly preparing to celebrate their 15th wedding anniversary in June 2024.
In his spare time, Pat enjoys catching up on much-needed sleep, given the demands of parenting. He is a passionate Buffalo Bills and Sabres fan, a bourbon and craft beer enthusiast, and a massive fan of the Fallout video games—so much so that he has a tattoo to prove it. Pat also loves stand-up comedy and looks for opportunities to enjoy a good laugh.
